Meet the Team: Odunayo Adeniyi

I am Odunayo David Adeniyi, from Akure, Ondo state, Nigeria. I am currently a second-year masters student in Agricultural Environmental Management Engineering at the University of Debrecen, Hungary. My bachelor degree was on Agricultural Engineering. My interest in nature conservation started at a tender age from basic school when pictures are used to display animals to me. I got familiar with the names of some animals from their pictures and not seeing them physically. This became a big concern to me as I grew up. Some animals are tending to extinction in Africa because there are no laws that restrict massive hunting.

My masters studies in Environmental management triggers this interest as I took a course in my first year term Nature conservation ecology by Dr. Kövér László who is also a conservationist. I learnt a lot from him on the purpose of Nature conservation and maintaining biodiversity. I believe the existence of humans is to take care of the nature and conserve it and not to destroy it.

My main concern as a research graduate student is the sustainability of nature conservation with increasing population of humans in competitive land area. This is an issue that need attention today because, as population of human keeps increasing, more land seems to be needed for production of his food, clothing and shelter, hence, if care is not taking, he can intrude into protected areas because of the need. So how to satisfy human need of food as an Agricultural Engineer without intruding nature conservation nor disturbing the Environment is my goal.
