Meet the Team: Stephen Thompson

I am Stephen Thompson (Steve) from the UK. I have been a greenkeeper at the John o’ Gaunt Golf Club in Bedfordshire for 28 years. I have always had an interest in birds but since working at the golf club my interest in all wildlife has grown immensely. I am very passionate about wildlife and conservation not just in the UK but all over the world. Golf courses often get a bad press as being rubbish places for wildlife, but I can assure everyone that this is not the case- they have a huge diversity of habitats and species. I urge people to check out their local course and see what it has to offer.

I won Conservation Greenkeeper of the year in 2018 and have also helped the golf club to achieve local and national recognition and awards for our conservation work. The time has come for me to further my passion and career in conservation and take it to the next level. Being a part of Human Nature Projects could be the answer I am looking for, to be actively involved from the start in a new charity helping to connect people across the world with their love of nature and protecting this planet. When I first heard about HNP it really struck a chord with me. I believe communication is the key to saving the planet, connecting people, talking to them, sharing skills and knowledge and HNP seemed to fit with my ideas about spreading the word. Hope I can play my part in making HNP a success.
